nerves already?

The books on the picture is roughly 57% of my curriculum, haven’t had the time/money to get a hold of the rest yet.
I have lived at the University campus the last 3 days, attending the first lectures of this semester, buying/borrowing books, drinking caffeine like there was no tomorrow and having semi-break downs every third hour. So far I love all my subjects, but once again I have the feeling that I have gotten in way over my head with almost twice as much work load as the regular student. I am taking 3 literary subjects (film&fiction, american literature during the 50s and 60s and shakespeare), international politics and ex.phil, and after going through the curriculum I feel the exam nerves already.
Managed to fail Ex.Phil (still embarrassing to admit it, no one ever fails ex.phil) my first semester after some disagreement between my teacher and me,myself&I about the whether or not I had understood the exam question. This semester I will get an A, for realz.
Today I am going to attend to my poor apartment – who has been suffering under maltreatment the last couple of weeks – before attending the launch of L’Oreal/Maybelline’s new make-up line (more on that later).
How does your semester look like this year? Still in high school, or are you studying something utterly fantastic and inspiring at College/University level?

wanna fight?

New ring from Weekday. I am (like always) 6 months or more behind the trend-setters, and should probably have acquired this ring last fall, but then again, I like it now as well. So fcuk trends. Had to promise the sales clerk that I wouldn’t go beating up somebody while wearing this, which of course spoiled all my fun, so for now I will refrain from wearing it in any settings were violence might occur.

new acne store

Stopped by Maria at work on Saturday and had a look at the new Acne store. And it is just so beautiful. Whoever does the interior at Acne is a genius. Address: Øvre slottsgate 11 (just down the street from Egertorget).

Want these. Too bad I’ve already spent waaay more than my shoe budget allows.

back to school

First day of school today. Starting my last year on my bachelor in English Literature, as well as my third semester with Political Science. My hair is greesy, I am tired and I don’t do breakfast at 8am, but I am still looking forward to starting school again. New subjects, new curriculum, new students (well, some new at least) and new notebooks. Wish my hair would look like something other than a mess though, I miss my Toni&Guy Dry Shampoo! Does anyone know if they sell that in Oslo? I’m an addict of sorts.
Well, gotta run, time waits for no one.

unbearable lightness

In between the tanning and orienteering I have managed to read some books this summer as well, and while most of it was the typical simple and light summer literature (like a weird obsession with Sara Shepards series about the Pretty Little Liars), two of the books bewitched me in different ways and kept me glued to the pages, trying to read slower in order for them to last longer.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera.
“He suddenly recalled from Plato’s Symposium: People were hermaphrodites until God split then in two, and now all the halves wander the world over seeking one another. Love is the longing for the half of ourselves we have lost.”
A love story revolving around two individuals who’s views on love and sexual relations are very different. Set in Prague during the Soviet invasion in 1968, it creates a murky background of deceit, anger and hypocrisy. I didn’t really like the book until half-way through it, but at some point the characters grew on me, and the tragic love story became something one can relate to all parts of life. This book really made me re-think my life and values, and the well-known moral of “appreciate the small things in life”, made sense in a non-cliché way. A cynical and romantic must-read.
The Crucible, By Arthur Miller.
She thinks to dance with me on my wife’s grave! And well she might, for I thought of her softly. God help me, I lusted, and there is a promise in such sweat. But it is a whore’s vengeance, and you must see it. – John Proctor
A play about the 1692 witchcraft trials in Salem. This play is part of my curriculum for this Fall, and I thought it was going to be a pretty dry play I would only read through once and ignore to the best of my abilities. I was wrong. The language and the plot is very engaging and you get a better understanding of why people could accuse their neighbors and friends of witchcraft, which Miller also uses to draw parallels between the witch hunt and McCarthyism during the anti-communist period in the 1940s and 50s. I read in a matter of hours, on the plane from Oslo via Amsterdam to Geneva, to involved and engaged to notice anything going on around me.
Have you read anything of interest during the summer months?

be stupid

A better picture of the outfit from Wednesday. Fever still hanging on, but I’m pondering if should just give damn, down 4 pain killers and go out anyway. I had a little trip around town earlier today to get some air, and although it didn’t work out too well then, it might just do now..? I’m quoting Diesel here: Stupid might fail, smart doesn’t even try.
I vote yes. Be stupid.

feverish

Lonelygirl89 front row at Oslo Fashion Week (don’t remember which show) wearing pants from Gestuz, second-hand leather vest, top from Flat Top and my ultra-fresh Sony Ericsson W880i.
Oslo Fashion Week was a short experience for me. Less sleep than desirable, less food than what is necessary and just a whole lot of running here and there the last few weeks managed to take hold and forced me eventually to stay home instead of taking part in the great party it probably was. Probably a smart choice, but I was pretty bummed when I didn’t get to go to Gabriella and Cathrine’s grand opening last night (as well as Moods of Norway’s party/show) of their new store: Roe’s Fashionhood. Roe’s Fashionhood is a new concept store situated in Posthallen in Oslo, which will sell Norwegian design only (like FIN, Veronica B Vallenes, TSH, Johnny Love, Tina H, Cecilie Melli ++). Going to stop by next week to see the store, I’ve heard it looks – in lack of a better word – “awesome”. ;)

why-red

My new shoes from Whyred.
I have been lusting for these beauties for almost a year now, asking myself again and again if they are really worth 4800 kr. Have always ended up realizing that on a budget of about 6000 a month, I didn’t have the economy for them. By chance I took a trip by KOMA yesterday just to have a look, and found these. The last pair, in my size, by the 50% sale rack. SOLD! Spent the rest of the day grinning like a fool.
Who said money can’t buy you happiness? :D
BTW; check out some of the photos I took on Wednesday for nrk.no.
