spring cleaning

Spring cleaning today,  my apartment has been washed, vacuumed and polished, and right now it looks a lot better than it has done the past few weeks. Not fun to prioritize this over 22 degrees and sun outside, but it had to be done sooner or later. And this is later. Which is kind of strange, because there is really nothing that calms down more than a clean and tidy environment.

Well, enough about cleaning. Since I am done with my chores I can enjoy a couple of hours in the sun as a reward. Hope you’re enjoying the weekend, peeps.

on a roof top

Celebrated fancypants birthday on a roof top in Oslo earlier this week. The sun was shining, we ate macaroons, hot dogs and drinks, and took about 200 pictures. Yay to more days like that one.

what i’m craving is orange

Had a coffee break at EGER yesterday to spy on all the clothes and bags and shoes, and then pretend to work there for a couple of hours. Spotted the one and only (and super gorgeous) it-bag from Celine at Høyer Luxury and started dreaming of that day when I get rich and can buy whatever I want. Until then I will have to do with the picture. I love it in this color btw, very fresh and positively made for summer. Radiant.

What do you think, to die for or just plain boring?

Today I joined a group of fashion bloggers on a road trip to Vestby and Norwegian Outlet. Was invited there to have a look at and buy some clothes, and with 4 out of 6 Faksimile-bloggers attending it turned out to be a field trip of sorts. After a quick tour of the place (which houses 40 different brand stores), we all gathered at Høyer (we were a group of fashion bloggers after all) and browsed through racks filled with Gestuz, Malene Birger, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, McQueen, some Acne here and there, Stella McCartney etc. at 50-70% off. Woop woop! I was actually surprised by what I found, outlets tend to be a lot more boring and I have never found anything of interest at the outlets I’ve visited before (US and Italy). Got a gift certificate which I used to buy a very nice vest from Gestuz and a belt from Sand, and added a top from Wildfox to make my “summer and festivals”-outfit complete. It will be worn with vintage levi’s shorts and sandals when the weather allows it.

Are you an outlet shopper?

Yesterday I attended the funeral of a hamster named Skinke. He belonged to a friend of mine, and he died last week about 1 year old (ish?). We buried him in Sofienbergparken with speeches, a priest (Julie) and beer. A worthy goodbye for a very special dwarf hamster.

update from the study hall

2 comments - 9:21 AM - category: 365 Days

Good morning! I am currently located at the study hall, writing page upon page about Picasso, cubism and African art, while dreaming about the sun and park life. Two days left until deadline, and to my surprise I am handling myself quite nicely. In other news, I had a 2 hour power walking/jogging session up at Sognsvann yesterday to feed my karma and give me something to gloat about, then decided not to gloat about it when I was tempted to ask someone (anyone) to carry me home. Still need some more time before I am ready to be a marathon champion. In the meantime I’ll continue my studies of Picasso and Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.

pink leather

While we were treasure hunting in the basement of Free’p'Star, one of my favorite vintage boutiques in Paris, I spotted something pink and leather-y hanging on a rack and said something along the lines of: “MAJA. Hahaha. LOL. Look at this! It is a PINK. Leather. Jacket. With. A. Hood… I need to try this on so you can take a picture of me in it.” So I put it on, looked at myself in the mirror for about ten seconds, then turned around and looked at it from another angle.
“Maja..”
“Yes?”
“I think I need to buy this. It is quite awesome.”
Got an approving nod from the guy working there when I presented my findings, and he also agreed with me that it had the right Rick Owens -vibe to it. And it only cost me 30€.

I will turn skeptics into believers once I show it to you styled and ready, but right now I need to go out and do some jogging. My training schedule got ruined by the trip to Paris and then two days of exam writing madness (still going strong that last part there).

Enjoy the last day of Easter peeps !

paris #3 : le dernier jour de paradis

11 comments - April 23, 2011 3:24 PM - category: Paris, Travel

The last day in Paris was spent roaming the streets from Champs Elysees to Le Marais, eating macaroons from Ladurée, taking pictures, visiting Printemps and Lafayette to find a Balenciaga bracelet Maja wanted, going on a treasure hunt through various vintage shops, eating lunch outside Les Philosophes while watching people and of course; getting as much tanning time as possible. Well, some tanning, I was sweating my way through the streets of Marais, drinking gallon upon gallon of water, so I preferred the shadows after a while. The day ended with a private chauffeur picking us up at the hotel and driving us the airport were we boarded the plane home to Oslo. Today I am working on one of my exam essays on Picasso, while dreaming about Paris. Need to go back soon.

le grand palais

2 comments - 11:29 AM - category: Paris, Travel

The cocktail party and LG launch party at Le Grand Palais on Thursday was quite an event. Red carpet event with 1.300 attending, among them the famous French actress and former Bond-girl Sophie Marceau (who looked stunning) and film director Claude Lelouch. Me and Maja practiced people-watching for a good hour while eating hors d’oeuvres and drinking champagne/gin tonic, and drooled over the Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Hermés bags in attendance. One day when I get rich and .. rich, I will devote an entire room in my palace to all the beautiful bags of this world.

We were also entertained by samba dancers (and capoeira guys that killed it on stage. Too bad I didn’t film it, because they were quite awesome), before entering the screening of the 3D animated movie Rio. The movie was actually quite funny, and the 3D elements were very good. Got to try out the different 3D glasses as well during the film, and the corny geek-glasses from the 90s that the old lady is sporting further down on the page were excellent, while the yellow ones I am posing with were OK. So I know which glasses I am going to bring the next time I am watching a 3D film. Even though they make me look like I am a left-over from the cast of the Matrix or Swordfish or any other techno-related film from the late 90s (or a TVshop commercial).

And yeah, we were a part of a new Guinness World Record, for The Largest Private Viewing of a 3D movie Ever (or something like that). LOL. We had fun in other words. And Le Grand Palais is simply gorgeous.

We spotted this fantastic and cute little “miniature Birkin bag-”thing at the cocktail party at Le Grand Palais last night. Notice the matching iPhone cover as well. French women are so chic.

breakfast by le tour eiffel

4 comments - 9:10 AM - category: Paris, Travel

Good morning, dearest readers. Breakfast to this view ain’t so bad, is it?

Today we’re going to eat lunch at Le Maison Blanche, before the press conference and presentation of LG’s new 3Dtv at Le Pavillion Cambon, followed by a trip on the Seine. Enjoying myself immensely with all the geeks (and Maja).

BTW, do you have any shopping or restaurant tips for Paris? We have Friday off to do whatever we feel like, and while I have been here a couple of times before I am in no way familiar with everything Paris has to offer. A visit to Free’p'star and Vintage Bar is obligatory, but yeah: vintage shopping tips anyone?

I am located in Paris at the moment, chilling out in the hotel room after having roamed the streets of Paris eating crêpe (that’s pancakes) and enjoying the 24 degrees and t-shirt weather at 10pm. LOVE it. The reason I am in Paris is to attend the launch of LG’s new 3D tv, which will happen tomorrow at Grand Palais. Right now we’re listening to Kakkmaddafakka, while facebooking and drinking red wine. C’est la vie for sure.

My partner in crime; Maja.

Norwegian had free internet access during the flight (!) so we had to check faksimile (and facebook).

Yes. T-shirt weather !

Notre Dame + the tourist.

We live right by The Eiffel Tower. Which meant that we had to take the obligatory trip over to watch Le Tour Eiffel by night.
