Partied Halloween-style last night, with blood, blood and more blood. Gooey, gross and very fun.
I have no good pictures of myself, but I was dressed up like a cross-over between Bruce Spingsteen (on the cover of Born in the USA) and Lady Gaga. Or something like that.
Did you celebrate Halloween in style, and did you collect loads of candy?
Cold weather did not stop us from spending 13 1/2 hours in line all night to get tickets to the premiere of Harry Potter. Dressed up like hobos and survived on Mountain Dew (thanks, Maja) and cheese burgers.
The world premiere is on November 18th, but we got tickets to the celebrity event on November 12th. I just can’t wait! Harry Potter has been an enormous part of my life for the last 10 (or 11?) years, and to see it end now (or next July) feels quite weird.
Right now I am camping outside Colosseum to get tickets for the premiere of Harry Potter.
So in the mean time, enjoy this picture of the one and only John Mayer.
Last night was spent watching parts of Blade. There’s something special about watching those classic 90s movies like Blade and The Matrix at 3am in the darkness, curled up in the sofa with a cup of tea. And then, when the movies is over, turn of the TV and lie in the silence just listening to the faint sounds of the city. I am such a nocturnal being, night makes me feel so much more at ease than the stress and forceful energy of the daylight hours. I like candle light, darkness and that mellow silence.
About waking up this morning, I will quote Jean Kerr: “The average, healthy, well-adjusted adult gets up at 7:30 in the morning feeling just plain terrible.”
Yesterday started with essay frustration, and it was obvious that I needed something to get my mind of the problems that I keep isolated in the study hall. So once again I gathered a group of friends and dragged them along to play bingo at BLÅ, aiming for another bottle of that cava I have grown so fond of. With beer, bingo and song, it could only be pure awesomeness. And it was. So fun in fact, that I did not even notice that we did not win the cava. Asbjørn did win a couple of concert tickets and a scented candle.. HAHA.
After the bingo Marita, Maja and I started to make elaborate plans about future bingo nights and appropriate attire. We’re thinking jackets, pink jackets, with sequins and our names printed on the back. Does it sound like a good idea? I certainly think so.
A sneak peak of Jenny Skavlan’s second collection for BIKBOK just landed in my inbox, and I must say that I find this a lot more interesting than her last collection. The black pants (or is it a skirt?) will definitely be welcomed into my closet, and the same goes for the black dress.
BikBok will also be launching a blog following the developments of her collection in the beginning of November, but I haven’t found a release date yet. Do any of you know?
[EDIT:] The collection will be in stores on November 25th. [/EDIT]
Last Saturday I attended a blog party hosted by the sweetest Swedish girls: Susanna and Cilla. And it was definitely the best blog party I’ve attended so far. Cute bloggers, cute cupcakes and fun competitions (I won a purse btw!). Met Maja, who’s blog I’ve been reading on a semi-regular basis for the past 5 months (or something like that), and after the obligatory five minutes of “this is just weird” that usually occurs when bloggers meet, everything was just perfect. After having spent the last two days in solitary confinement, I talked everyone else to death, so I have to apologize for that.. Heh.
Had a wonderful evening in any case, and wouldn’t mind doing it again.
Just received these pictures from BikBok’s Xmas Party Collection, and I definitely approve. The model is the beautiful Alexandra Spencer of the blog 4th and bleeker, a blog I have followed quite religiously the past year. I have a mean craving for the leopard shorts and the white Gaga-esque body (as well as dying my hair blonde just to sport the blond hair + red lips look).
What do you think?
PS! I am currently not in possession of a memory card, so until I am able to drag myself down to the store to by a new one (by all probability it will hopefully happen tomorrow) this blog will be devoid of any pictures of yours truly.
After two days of fever nightmare (usually expected whenever I finish an essay or production of some kind) I am back on track and ready to rumble. Tonight is all about a few glasses of rosé and a blog party of some sort, which will hopefully be a blast.
Have spent the day researching universities in the US and France. Previous attempts have been aborted for various reasons, but I plan to make it work this time and right now a bachelor in Journalism at Berkley, UCLA or University of Boston sounds like a good idea. I am finishing my bachelors degree in English Literature this spring, and after that I am in need of something new to immerse myself in, and some form of journalism sounds like just the thing for me. For one thing I have shown this liking towards writing… You might have noticed.
Well, anywho, more one that enchanting subject later, right now I need to clean out my closet in search of something to wear tonight. The cold weather is not making it easy for me..
I found a lot of things I liked during the last few days, but these things are among my favorites. Especially the shoes from Surface To Air and the white wide-legged pants from BIKBOK.
Celebrated my freedom by consuming various types of food (including sushi, macaroons, meatballs and large amounts of coffee, which arguably isn’t food) at the different press agencies while socializing and looking at things that should be on my Christmas wish list had it not been for the fact that they aren’t in store until next year. Got to take a look at Jenny Skavlan’s new collection for BIKBOK, and found a body I think will find it’s way into my closet once it is in stores. Tomorrow I will try to put together a post with my favorite things that I look forward to drooling over in the stores, but right now I am going to make myself a hot meal and watch Bones on TV. <3
This guy has been acting as my personal paparazzi, as well as good company, the last two days..
..taking pictures of me while I am enjoying free drinks and social times. I love it when people take pictures of me. Heh.
But my favorite part of the whole day was spending time with my Marie again, one of a kind bestfriend. :)
Visited Star PR yesterday as a part of my lunch break to eat and chat and have a look at the new collections. Seen most of it before, but realized that I want to redecorate my apartment in Missoni Home. Will share loads of pictures with you tomorrow, right now my only priority in the world is this:
HAPPY NEWS NUMERO UNO TODAY:
I just handed in my exphil-paper, which means I am free!
(at least until Monday, when the exam reading starts).
This calls for breakfast at Godt Brød. Big black coffee and a warm bagel with something tasty on it. After less than 4 hours of sleep last night I certainly have deserved it.
DRESS lindex SWEATER weekday BOOTS zara SCARF h&m BELT vintage
Not the best picture-quality, the light in my apartment just isn’t that great at 8:30am. When I woke up this morning, comfort trumped everything, and I chose to combine four of the most comfortable things I own. I could sleep in this (and I did at the study hall). My lunch break was spent at Presskontakerna, Polhem PR and Holtzweiler, browsing through news from brands like The Local Firm, Elegantly Waisted, TSH and much more. Like always I can’t wait for the next season to come around. You can see my favorites from Local Firm on Maria’s blog.
Tomorrow is all about a looong day at the university, and then the opening of what I have been told is the world’s biggest Bianco store. Can’t wait to dress up and be surrounded by loads and loads of shoes. Shoe gluttony, here I come.
Willow Smith is bringing it in her new music video to the guaranteed-to-be-a-major-hit-song “Whip My Hair”. With (Norwegian) music video genius RayKay on the team, the 9 year old has made a statement, and I definitely hope she’s here to stay. Seriously, she’s 9! I wish I was that cool when I was 9.
This blog belongs to Maren, a 23-year-old quasi-intellectual girl from Kristiansand, Norway. She has got a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Oslo, and is now living in Honolulu, Hawaii where she is working on a MA in Communication at Hawaii Pacific University. She likes books. [more?]
In 2004 I started to write down what books I read in order to keep track of them all. Since 2006 I have gathered them here instead of in my notebook and they serve as a reminder of how I should read more and compete to beat my old “record”. You can find the complete list here.
