a tourist in paris

9 comments - April 29, 2010 7:39 PM - category: Paris, Travel

The day started with a stop by Notre Dame (which is in our neighbourhood) to study the tourists, and lay down the field work in order to be the perfect tourists for the rest of the day. We spent approximately an hour on the ticket machine, trying to figure out how to buy a ticket for the metro (embarrassing, I know). Took the metro to Mr. Tour Eiffel, and ate an overpriced breakfast at a bistro just around the corner, before we we started on the real tourist-in-action work.

Took classic tourist photos (notice the fake smile, not to mention my favourite peace sign)..

.. and not so classic tourist photos…

.. before took a much needed pit stop in the park nearby. The heat made me hate the fact that I’d been stupid enough to wear my acne boots (no comments please.)

We also took some quite random weird pictures that needs to be censored or laughed at.

We took pictures of delicious food, hoping to keep the memories of good flavours alive.

And pictures of people eating, loads of pictures of people eating. Got home with about 200 photos, which is actually quite a little miracle. I usually get home with about 30 photos after a week. So, in other words we thought we did an excellent job of being tourists today, so tomorrow we’ll try to be perfect shopaholics. Stay tuned.

Actually, we’re starting tonight by eating dinner at Kong, following in the footsteps of Carrie Bradshaw.

paris day 1

Left grey, chilly and rain-full Oslo this morning, and arrived to 25 degrees and sun in Paris. Not bad at all. Spent the evening at a restaurant across the street of our hotel, catching up with Ida and Silje, my two travel companions. Haven’t seen them for quite some time, so there was a lot to talk about. Gossip you know ;)

Yr.no has promised me 28 degrees and sun tomorrow, so the current plan is breakfast on the grass by the Eiffel Tower, before taking the obligatory tour to Champs Elysees, and Notre Dame possibly.

Ida :)

The “spectacular” view from our window.

Got a new Diamani watch yesterday, with real diamonds (:D). So pretty, I love it. Seriously, what have I done to deserve this? And while it is my blog and my work, I wouldn’t have any of this without you, my dearest readers. You give me motivation, and although I would have blogged without having any readers at all, I really do appreciate that you are there, reading, commenting.

Thank you so much!

I wish for a pink lipstick come this summer, possibly the new Lady Gaga for Mac if I can find it in Norway (or Paris).  I wish for sun. I wish for the new iPhone. I wish for bathing temperatures. I wish for motivation to work-out every day. I wish I could read instead of spending time infront of the school computer. In other words I wish for motivation to read psychology. I wish for a cup of green tea. I think I’m going to go buy a cup of tea at the cafe. Yea.

Finished my paper today, feeling better than I have felt in weeks. There’s just something special about finally finishing off something you’ve been working on for weeks. Got home to find the pack from fashionology.nl, and the pleasant surprise that the lovely Rachel had sent me two extra pieces of jewelery. LOVE! I actually jumped around the apartment in joy, with Marita sitting in the sofa laughing at me. Doesn’t take a lot to make me happy. Heh. But I really like these necklaces, so it should be understandable.

Tomorrow I’m going to continue the festivities by spending 6 hours at the uni reading psychology, before joining Elise at Aker Brygge in what will hopefully be a bright sunny day. With my luck right now, it will be. Good night <3

Like someone pointed out, this blog pause didn’t last till Tuesday, even though it should have. I admit it. I’m an addict. I like writing stuff here, long random essays about nothing, or just one-liners accompanied by pretty pictures.

Today I wanted to tell you, among other things, that I got a new pair of shoes yesterday. My friend Helene is selling parts of her closet before she’s moving to France by the end of May, and I adopted this pair of wedges that originally came from Zara. Little worn-down, but still pretty. I like them.

I also wanted to tell you that in two days I am off to Paris. [insert cries of joy] So any last minute tips on anything from flea markets to bicycling abilities will be received with much gratitude! <3

Sunday. Feeling worn-out after a birthday party extraordinaire yesterday. Luckily for me my mum sent me a little pack of necessities, containing tea, exotic black chocolate and my favourite caramels in the whole wide world. All from Kaffe&Pasta, one of my favourite boutiques in Kristiansand. Thanks, mum<3  My plans for the day was supposed to involve spending time on my neighbours balcony, but the sun isn’t all that today, so I have decided to be a smart girl and reread some of the chapters for my political science exams. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

What are your plans for the rest of the day?

in all randomness

Reading for my exam, eating eco chocolate and watching TV at the same time. Always a winner. And of course, constantly updating KLM’s web pages to see if there’s any news on the cloud of ash touring around Europe, while listening to Usher’s new song OMG after Spotify pressured me into doing it (still, I prefer the music commercials over Jonathan from Spotify any day), and sort of liking it. Tonight will involve my favourite movie of all times: Boondock Saints + good friends + a glass or two of red wine. In other words: perfection.

And on another random note entirely: do any of you watch Vampire Diaries? I mean the new episodes, “not yet aired in Norway”-episodes. If so, I want your opinions on the “might possibly happen and it would be so awesome”-couple Damon and Elena. Do you think it will happen, and if so, do you want it to happen as much as I do?

pr week favorites

[ Me, Marie and Nikki Sixx. Photo: Marie ]

The PR week is over (at least for me), so I thought I’d show you a couple of my favorite items from the collections that will be in store around September.

Shoes from Carin Wester. Were supposed to be show pieces only, but I heard rumours at Stockholm Fashion Week that due to massive excitement about the shoes after the show, they are going to be manufactured and in stores. Don’t know if it is just rumours or actual facts, but I hope it’s true.

And these from Carin as well. Like the quirky heel and the snake print. Odd, kind of ugly, but oh-so-cool.

This cape from Veronica B. Vallenes. My absolute favorite from this years fashion week, her collection is one that I wouldn’t mind stealing. The prints, the seams, the contours, the colors. Discrete, but noticeable. You can see more pictures from Veronica’s collection at Maria’s blog.

These rings from the Norwegian jewelery designer Torill Isachsen. I especially LOVE the yellow and the blue ones.

This pair from Whyred were quite nice too. Sort of 90′s spice girl with the heel, but in a good way. Whyred knows how to make shoes, that’s for sure.

BikBok’s new collection. BikBok just keeps on getting better, and I love these pieces. The patterns, and the fabrics (!) were cool and did not look as cheap as they used to. A mix of army, animal prints, pastels and black means something for just about everyone, which is the point with chain stores like BikBok. Either way I am impressed. This bodes good for fashion awareness in Norway (I hope).

Macrons at Patriksson PR. My relationship with macrons is complicated, full of love and hate. Mostly love. Will eat a lot of these in Paris hopefully (if I get there).

Went to the release party for the new Charlotte T collection for BikBok yesterday, carrying so many goodie bags I am sure I must have dislocated my shoulder by the time I got there. Seriously, Star PR gave us pasta, pesto and pasta sauce. HAHA. Lucky for me though, I know what I am going to eat next week for once. Looked quite dire there for a moment, seeings as my refrigerator contains some random vitamins and dust these days.

But anyways, Charlotte’s collection: it was nice, pretty, will probably sell a lot, but I felt that I’d sort of seen it all before. Many times. Fam Irvoll + studs + focus on shoulders + monki = Charlotte’s collection. Not that there’s anything bad in that, but I don’t think I’ll be buying anything. Althought I did like the hats. Can’t call myself a slave of fashion without loving hats right now. Slave. Heh-

I was accompanied by these two lovely ladies wearing the seasons must-have: a hat.

While I was sporting this week’s must-have: a glass of bubbly something…

… and a friend on a constant happy-hour-sugar-rush of happiness.

Heh. Julia. HAH- Pretty.

NOW, bed. <3
