Q: If you could be any animal, which would it be and why?

A: I would be a bird, an eagle I think, so I could fly around and look down on the world and feel free.

Q:  where did you buy the dress you used on May 17th?

A: H&M. :)

Q Are you travelling anywhere this summer?

A: Had loads of plans involving Paris, Greece and Roskilde, but right now I’m not sure. Will spend a week in Switzerland and one in Sweden together with the family, but other than that I hope to spend as much time as possible in Kristiansand at home or at our summer house. Haven’t been home since November, so it is about time.

Q:  What is your dream job (once you’ve finished studying)? / What do you want to be when you grow up?

A: I actually don’t know, and that’s my biggest problem as of right now. Maybe a journalist or something involving pr management. Or fashion. I would’ve loved to work as a journalist in Vogue or i:D. Only the future will tell though..

Q: Which books would you recommend for a person who wants to prepare herself/himself for studying psychology?

A: The book which is a part of the introductory course is quite good (I really enjoyed reading in it up until I had to study for the exam): Psychology by Passer, Smith, et al.

Q: What type of camera do you use?

A: Canon G11.

Q: Can you make an “in-my-bag”-post?

A: Already done it right here. Do you want another one?

Q: What’s on the top of your wish list?

A: Canon 550d, Chanel 2.55 or Alexander Wang’s Diego.

Q: What are your plans for the autumn?

A: Continue studying English Literature, enjoying my life and stop worrying about the future.

Q: What is your dream job today?

A: Journalist? Rock star? Famous fashion photographer? I want it all, and at the same time I want nothing. Tough.

Q: What are your plans for the future concerning school and studying?

A: I am quitting political science, continuing to study English Literature and thinking about starting on a bachelor in Media Studies (medievitenskap på godt norsk).

Familien eier leiligheten.

Q: Can you tell us something about what you are studying? How many books do you need to read? Are the lectures any good?

A: English literature is a really fascinating subject, which goes into depths about different time periods, culture, history, etc. I’ve had both good and bad lecturers, but mostly good ones. The amount of books vary from subject to subject, in Victorian literature this semester we have 6 novels and 8 (I think) poems + a small book on the era itself.

Q: Sneak peak in your closet please..?

A: Just need to be a neat freak first. ;)

Q: skarrer du på r’en?

A: Jepp. Skikkelig sørlandsdialekt.

Q: What is your most expensive garment, pair of shoes, bag?

A: I believe that would be my Burberry trench, Acne boots and Marc Jacobs bag. All well used items. Good investments in other words.

Q: How tall are you?

A: 1.73cm.

Q: What’s your favorite fruit?

A: MANGO!

Q: Where in the world do you want to live (something more original than Paris or London)?

A: New York? No, I don’t want to settle down one place and live there for the rest of my life. I dream of travelling and want to live a couple of months (or more) in Tokyo, New York, Paris, Prague and Jerusalem among others.

Q: What is your favorite room in the apartment?

A: Well, it’s not that many rooms to choose from, and while I spend most of my time in the living room/kitchen, I must say that I am very fond of my bedroom. At home in Kristiansand (where I have more rooms to choose from), I love the library.

Q: Hva er ditt syn på trøndere?

A: Har ikke noe spesielt syn på trøndere, har aldri kjent noen derfra. Jeg liker ikke Trondheim for øyeblikket, men det er bare fordi Ingeborg flytter dit til høsten.

Q: Do you play any instruments?

A: my voice? My song teacher always told me “your voice is the finest instrument in the world”.

Q: NY or LA?

A: Both?

Q: I know your studying two things at the same time, but what kind of grades do you get from that? Must be hard to get good grades when you study that many subjects and have the schedule that you do, how do you manage?

A: It is.. I get OK grades, some good, some not so good, but it is a lot, which is why I am dropping out of political science (hiiiiigh school drop out..). I’d rather have excellent grades on all my exams, than Cs (or Ds.. :/).

Q: What’s your favorite film and book?

A: Favorite book&movie: Ensemble C’est Tout by Anna Gevalda. But I also enjoy Anne Rice’s vampire series, the James Bond movies, Star Wars (mainly the 3 first ones) and Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Q: Most handsome celebrity?

A: Clichee I know but.. Johnny Depp. Big fan of Colin Farrell and Jude Law as well though.

Q: I love your hair, how do you make it look like that (its naturally that lovely, or what? :P)

A: Very little. Head&shoulder shampoo, no conditioner, some hair spray now and then and a visit to my hairdresser twice a year.

Q: What’s your favourite recipe (i think food says a lot about a person haha) ?

A: At this moment: Pasta salad: pasta + avocado + apples + cherry tomatoes + hot dogs.

Q: Where do you plan on travelling next?

A: Kristiansand. Then Switzerland. Then Sweden. Then possibly Amsterdam. And in October: Hawaii.

Q: Do you have a favourite drink?

A: As a matter of fact, I do. Lynchburg Lemonade.

Q: Do you hate English linguistics as much as me (in case you learn them as part of your BA)?

A: Hated it, then loved it, then I hated it again, and now I like it.

Q: How do you acquire all your knowledge about fashion?

A: I read magazines, blogs, books about fashion and I try to talk (and listen) to people who know a thing or two about it. The internet is my friend.

Q: Which blogs are your favorites?

A: The ones listed right here.

Q: How many tattoos do you have? Can you show us pictures?

A: The answer is one, and yes you can see it. Here you go:

Q: Which city in Norway is your personal favorite?

A: My hometown: Kristiansand. ;)

Q: What is the worst thing you know?

A: Snakes. Snakes. Snakes. Snakes on a plane. Snakes in Indiana Jones. Snakes in Medusa’s hair.

Q: What annoys you in your everyday life?

A: Mess. Which is sort of a bad thing, because I tend to be quite messy when I’m in a hurry, and when I get home and down to earth and all that, I get mad at myself because the apartment looks like sh**.

Q: What makes you happy?

A: Ultimate happiness: unexpected visit from someone I like. Never fails. (except maybe at 5am when I’m tired and need sleep) Chocolate works too.

Q: Do you have any potential boyfriends in your life at the moment?

A: Sadly, I don’t.

Well, still not finished with these boring exams, so I though we could do something fun while I’m reading myself to death. Yes, you guessed it: a Q&A round. You up for it? I loooove talking about myself, I just need a question to get started. Example: How many countries have you visited? What is your favourite fruit? Where do you buy your stockings? +++

Rough day today, both for me and my room mate so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to have another one of those crazy question sessions where you ask whatever you want and I’ll try and answer as a serious (or not) as possible.

I’ve gotten a lot of mails lately concerning school and what I study and how much work it is etc, so I’m going to sit down on Sunday and write a little guide to the subjects I study and how it works for me (in Norwegian). Saves me a lot of work (instead of having to answer each mail personally) and then you all get your answers. So school questions will be answered on Sunday, right now you can ask me about anything else. Everything else.

Go.

Q&A pt.2

8 comments - September 15, 2009 1:40 am - category: Books, Life, Music, Outfit, Q&A

MarenV:
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
I’m into all kinds of music, I like basically everything as long as it’s good. Favourites include: coldplay, the doors, the who, rufus wainwright, edith piaf, antony & the johnsons, lykke li, britney spears, nouvelle vague, eskimo joe.

roskilde

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT ELTON & JACOBSEN’S COLLECTION? I think her ss09 collection was nice, but a little .. boring? Nice seams though.
HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON STUDYING WHAT YOU DO? When I finished high school I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, and because of my inflamed knees dancing was not an option, so I chose the other thing I loved to do, which was/is reading english literature. After a year I realized that although I love the subject, I needed some more school, so I applied for political science as well. I’m currently studying for two bachelors in other words. N-E-R-D.

Kersit:
WHAT BAG WOULD YOU PREFER? Chanel 2.55, Birkin, YSL Muse or Stam by MJ? I have always loved Chanel 2.55, and it will be my favourite forever. Classic.

chanel_255

Metallicatrollet:
WHAT MAKES YOU GLAD AND WHAT MAKES YOU REALLY PISSED OF? It takes little to make me happy, anything from spending time with friends, working out, a bite of chocolate or a compliment. To piss me off takes a lot more effort, but it’s possible. When people are spreading rumours about me which are untrue, and even more so if friends believe these lies. I’m not a very angry person, I don’t usually care enough to get angry.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE? The strive to be a person people will think is cool and smart. I’m going to be honest an say it as it is, I wish to be a person people will look at and say “I wish my life was like her’s”. And that’s a strong motivation.

books2

YOUR TOP 5 BOOKS? That changes all the time, but atm I would say (in no particular order):
The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice
Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman
Don Quiote, by Cervantes
Animal Farm, by Geroge Orwell
Ensemble C’est Tout, by Anna Gavalda
IF YOU HAD TO EAT ONLY ON MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? sushi ;)

Christina:
CAN YOU TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT THE SUBJECT YOU’RE STUDYING (ENGLISH LITERATURE) ? Well, you have two introductory courses, one on English (British) literature and one on American Literature, which gives you a wide understanding of the general periods in their literary history. You read a lot of different texts from the various periods, anything from Jane Eyre and Shakespeare to Toni Morrison and T.S. Elliot. And then you have cultural courses to understand English culture and history, one class in grammar and another in intonation & pronunciation, and after you’ve finished those you chose which time period or type of literature you want to study closer. It’s a lot less dry than it sounds.. ;)

Edona:
HOW DO YOU LIKE LIVING IN OSLO? I love it.
DID YOU KNOW MANY PEOPLE WHEN YOU MOVED THERE? I knew a lot of people, which led to me not being to social and getting to know new people the first few months. Now I’m a lot better at that.
CAN YOU SHOW US SOME PICTURES OF YOUR APARTMENT? I have already, but I can make a new post soon (I just need to clean my apartment)
YOUR FAVOURITE OUTFIT? right now, this:

230809

Stephy:
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK EVER? That changes all the time, but I will always love the Harry Potter series (not to mention Lord of the Rings)
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THESE DAYS? Run This Town – Jay-z, Rihanna & Kanye, Barracuda – Heart or Crazy Train -Ozzy Osbourne.
WHY DID YOU START YOUR BLOG? when I moved to Oslo a year ago I got a lot of free time, and everyone else had school all the time, so the blog became my outlet for everything I needed to get out of my head.

Kine:
WHAT KIND OF CAKE DO YOU WANT ON SATURDAY? these cupcakes, or brownies. ;)

chanel_cupcakes

Nina:
If you had to chose one moment in moment in your life that you could re-live, which one would it be? And no, you can’t say that there’s so many that you can’t possibly pick just one.

D-i-f-f-i-c-u-l-t. Might be that perfect night at Kick with Ricardo. It was fun, I was happy, we could laugh at it for ages, and life was just .. perfect then. Can’t come up with anything better.

The deadline for my Lebanon/Hezbollah essay is drawing nearer, so I’m not going to be a good blogger today nor tomorrow, so instead of doing nothing I thought I could follow the general trend these days and arrange a little round of Q&A. I have gotten a lot of new readers lately, so why not.. :) Ask me anything, and I’ll try to answer as best as I can on Tuesday/Wednesday.

questions and answers

11 comments - June 4, 2009 12:26 pm - category: Life, Q&A

Because I do have readers who doesn’t speak English, this will mostly be in English. ;)

Kristine/Marit:
What is your favorite chocolate? Reeses Peanut Butter cups. One taste and you’re hooked.

Kristine:
Hvilket snitt må man ha for å komme inn på engelsk litteratur? Husker ikke. Jeg har 4.6 i snitt og kom inn?

Anbefaler du å studere det? Absolutt, hobby som studie. Kunne ikke vært bedre.

Chri:
What’s your favorite childhood memory? I remember very little from my childhood that’s positive. Not that it’s negative, it’s just a randome mass of flickers. Like the fact that I was very happy when I got to hold my Duplo-pony when we took pictures in kindergarden, and the feeling of the cold snow when I ran away from home on Christmas Eve when I was around 6 or something..

Ingunn:
Får jeg bli med deg til NY? Hvis du får plass i kofferten..?

Marie:
Har du noen studenttips om økonomi? Hvordan lage sunn, billig mat. Hvor man kan kjøpe fine, billige moteklær..? Wow.

Nesli:
What is your job? I suppose you’re only working part-time? I work at a bookstore, only part-time, but I tend to work more than I should..

What do you want to do after your studies? I really don’t know. I’m starting on a bachelor in politic science this fall, parallel with English literature,

Apart from London, will you go to other places this summer? Italy and Sweden. And possibly France to see Coldplay at Arras. And of course home to Kristiansand.

Do you have siblings? Yes, two little sisters.

What is your favourite magazine? I would have to say i-D, Vogue Paris and Costume.

Your favourite blog? There are so many, but my absolute favourites are the ones listed on the left. Vanillascented, Fashionjunkiie, Style To Go, Marianne, Hanneli, yours, Ingunn, Living Doll, Nio Till Fem.

Kari:
What kind of camera do you own? Canon Eos 1000d.

Helene:
Når kjøpte du skinnjakken din fra bik bok? To uker siden, tror ikke det er mulig å få tak i dem lenger. Var på salg til 299kr. Kupp!

Marie:
What is your favorite clothing store? I like KOMA, Tonica Vintage and UFF, but I usually buy most of my clothes from H&M, Gina and BikBok, being a poor student and everything.

Do you recommend any make-up products and why? ID mineral powder is ingenious, cover all redness and melting into the skin without looking like a mask. Max factor false lash effect is the best mascara by far, the volume and length is incredible.

How do you work out when you work out? I tend to jog most of the time. But pilates is fantastic as well.!

Ã…shild:
How do like living like a student in Oslo? It’s lovely, but I never though it would be this expensive. Bills, bills and more bills. But I love lving alone and taking care of myself.

Are you going to the Coldplay concert in August? No.. :( But I might see them in France this July.

What is your favorite tv-series? BONES! I’m seriously running home from work to see it every wednesday and thursday. Pushing Daisies, CSI, The Wire, Dexter, Two and a Half Men, Hannah Montana (I’m serious..) and The City are lovely as well.

Marte:
Are you a Christian?
No.

What does your studies involve? Reading selected novels, poems and dramas from English and American classics, analyzing them, learning about the context of the text, both cultural and historical.

What are you going to be when you grow up? I really don’t know. And it’s killing me. Any suggestions?

Benedicte:
Også lurte jeg på om du vet om det fortsatt er mulig å få tak i de svarte ankelbootsene dine som er fra DinSko? Desverre. Har ikke sett dem på lenge. Kjøpte dem i høst, men det er jo en mulighet for at de kommer på salg kanskje?

What do you do when you’re not working or studying? Work-out, watch TV, read, go to funny art exhibits, concerts or just hang around with friends. Really boring and ordinary.

Astrid:
Where do you get the motivasion to jogg as often and far as you do?
Nike+, compeeting against people gets me out of the sofa, when I’m out running 10 km doesn’t seem that much.

Recommend any good jogging-/powersongs? I like Fascination by Alphabeat, Kids by MGMT, Bird Flu by M.I.A and If U Seek Amy by Britney Spears.

Melissa:
What is your job? I work at a bookstore.

What is your favourite magazine? I would have to say i-D, Vogue Paris and Costume.

When did your passion for fashion start for real? I’ve always been interested in fashion, but I didn’t really have the time or energy to start doing anything about the way I dressed until I moved to Oslo last autumn. When your dancing more than 20 hours a week you tend to want to wear sweats all the time.

Who takes your daily outfit-photos? Me. Self-timer?

Do you live alone or togther with someone else? Looks like you have a nice appartment. Currently I live with Malin, but she’s moving out tomorrow, so then I’m back to living alone again.

What specialization did you go to in high school? Dance.

Do you have any particular English experience, since you are sometimes blogging in English? My studies are in English, but other than that .. no. I just like English as a language, and then of course it has something to do with the fact that I do have readers from other countries than Norway (or Scandinavia in general).

Who’s your favorite blogger? Like I said earlier, I don’t one favorite, but the ones listed on the left are the ones I love the most.

What do you think about Lisa Place ? I followed her blog earlier, and she does have a really good style, but I got tired of her style of blogging I guess. I still do visit from time to time.

How tall are you? 1.73cm last time I checked.

What’s your best fashiontip this spring? with a pair of trashed jeans shorts, a slouchy T, wedges or gladiators and a good tan you’ll survive anything.

And of course the question everyone is dying to know: why I am moving to the US next autumn? I’m going to study: finish my English Litterature bachelor. :) Mystery solved.
