Nicolas Moore for ELLE France featuring Behati Prinsloo via Because I’m Addicted.

LOVE this.

Do you think we’ll be in love forever?

A mixed platter of inspirational catwalk photos, lookbook-looks and editorials. I love rag&bone aw2012 and the 90s ad from Versace, and that is really how I want to look right now. Just need to layer like Dickens meets rock god or find me some colored pants. The second alternative might work a lot better with the Hawaiian climate though.

This Is What Makes Us Girls

Freja Beha for Free People‘s February catalogue

I WANT this. As in, just put on the entire outfit. Both of them. Free People has always been dangerous to my limited budget, but right now I really need to lock my credit card somewhere safe and go for a walk, or do some DIY.

Week-end is here and I am contemplating whether or not I will flee the city to live like a mermaid at Hanauma Bay. The stillness and coolness of the ocean sure beats the police sirens, helicopter noise and closed-off beaches at Waikiki.

What are you doing this week-end?

A little dose of inspiration

In this land of the sun I am feeling the tribal/gypsy/hobo-style creeping in and my affiliation with anything that contains multi-colored patterns, crochet, tassels, beads and whatnot is growing stronger day by day. By the end of the year my wardrobe will be converted into a cluster of Native American ebay-finds, beaded bracelets from the beach stalls, crochet dresses, flowery kimono-styled jackets and leather bags. Wish me luck.

Awesome people hanging out together

0 comments - August 5, 2011 9:57 PM - category: Editorials

Johnny Depp and Allen Ginsberg.

The Who and The Rolling Stones.

Madonna, Sting and 2pac.

Queen and Andy Warhol.Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.

I am such a sucker for those good old celebrities, the ones that are known for their brilliance in whatever field they are active in, music, art, literature, acting. Those are the types of people I can get starstruck by, the ones I love to find pictures of, the reason why I love blogs like “Awesome people hanging out together”, and follow them religiously. To see the artists hang out together and be … regular folks, is my kind of eye candy.

Elegance and Eccentricity

3 comments - June 2, 2011 8:07 AM - category: Editorials

Apart from the obvious hippie/festival-trend I follow to some degree every summer, these looks are at the very center of my inspiration for this summer as of right now (then again my main source of inspiration changes all the time). Elegant, eccentric, retro but in some way very modern. The color combination green, black and gold (not to mention green, grey and gold) is quite perfect. Virtuous and luscious at the same time. I want the green shirt and patched skirt in the picture to the left, and crave the sunglasses in this editorial.

What do you think, and what is your main source of inspiration this summer?

Liu Xu & Hyun Yi photographed by Lina Scheynius for Dazed & Confused June 2011

I feel like these pictures are stills from an Asian movie of sorts. A story of two sisters, of love and loss, of endless summers, and some mystical force that is everything, knows everything. Omnipotent. I want to see this movie. It has to be Haruki Murakami-inspired, with a touch of Lady Vengeance and The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Filmed mostly in high saturation, with black and white shots now and then. With a soundtrack composed by Tan Dun and Antonio Vivaldi, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon meets the violins of Oldboy. Yes, I would definitely want see that movie.

Exquisite

Charlotte Cordes photographed by Koray Birand for Vogue Hellas June 2011.

The Great Gatsby meets Lake Garda. Love it. I also find it fascinating that amongst all the references to the past (20s-60s), the ever-growing flashbacks from the 90s can be seen everywhere. The pastels, the pointed shoes, the feathers and the belly-bottomed tops paired with maxi-skirts. It has changed a little, but the essence of it is still very intact. Still waiting for the buffalo boot to become mainstream fashion again. Not sure if that’s possible, but you never know…

Former plus-size model Crystal Renn posing for a fashion film for StyleCaster.com. The film is directed by Jason Last (and the stills are photographed by Fabien Montique) and pictures “a woman who can give you these moments of charm and perfection, but who privately (and easily) can become unhinged.”.

Personally I think it is beautiful. I love the make-up, styling (Marchesa), colors and music. Think Lanvin for H&M commercials meet A Single Man (the movie by Tom Ford) mixed with a touch of grungy Sex and The City. You can watch the film here.

red hair and white skin equals perfection

Styled by Anne Sohie Thomas, Photography by Mason Poole.

Inspiration for those of us who never really get a tan ever. I am not predisposed to “white-that-looks-like-light-blue”-skin, but I tend to spend too much time inside reading books, watching TV, playing video games and the likes, so I never get that healthy tan everyone talks so energetically about. But that obviously should not put a stopper on me wearing white, and fresh colors that are usually saved for those tanned beauties. Sometimes I wish I had red hair, as in the Ginny Weasley/Lily Cole kind of red hair and freckles. It is such a nice mix of sugar candy sweet and luscious forrest elf. Sadly I am all brunette, although I do have a couple of freckles left. Anyways, this is some of my inspiration come spring. I want colors and boot-legged pants and interesting mixes of fabric and patterns.

And I want the Celine bag. God, it’s gorgeous.

about lara

2 comments - December 22, 2010 6:23 PM - category: Editorials

I have never understood why everyone was fawning over Lara Stone, she is beautiful and everything, but I never saw her appeal, to me she was just another model with bleached eyebrows, pouting lips and a fierce/sexed up look in her eyes, like Daphne Groeneveld, Abbey Lee, Ginta Lapina, etc. But the latest editorials I have seen from here is gradually making me change my mind. Like this one shot in Tuscany by Mario Testino for Vogue US. I think her range of facial expressions has grown and that she looks a lot better with her natural colored eyebrows than the bleached ones. The editorial makes me want to travel to Tuscany as well.

What do you think about Lara?

In 2004 I started to write down what books I read in order to keep track of them all. Since 2006 I have gathered them here instead of in my notebook and they serve as a reminder of how I should read more and compete to beat my old “record”. You can find the complete list here.
