LOVE this video. Rihanna + Megan Fox+ Dominic Monaghan + Eminem = pure awesomeness.

This years must-see movie: When You’re Strange. My love for everything The Doors and Jim Morrison is one of the greater, and for years and years The Doors have been a part of my Top 3 favorite bands (together with The Who and Coldplay). Jim Morrison is the epitome of the Fallen Rockstar, with drugs, politics and rock’n'roll, leaving his mark alongside Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and for that matter Jeff Buckley and Kurt Cobain.
The new movie features never before seen photos and film and is narrated by another favorite Mr. Johnny Depp. Can’t wait to see this, and there’s no doubt in my mind about whether I will like it or not. Love Jim always. The misunderstood geniuses are always the most complex and interesting characters, it is so cliché, but true. Random fact: Jim allegedly had and IQ of 149.

Thank you so much for the comments on the last post, I am not sure what I’ll end up doing but it was absolutely comforting to realize that I am not the only feeling like this. In other news, I have spent the last couple of days humming on one song, and one song only: Samsaya’s new single Good With The Bad. Perfectly supercathy, and definitely a song that will stay with me through the last weeks of summer and first weeks of autumn. Also found her acoustic, one-take version quite perfect (what the video and listen to the song here: 730.no).
If you want to know what else I am listening to right now, this is my soundtrack for July (on spotify).

Yesterday was absolutely amazing. Sang my throat sore, danced my feet to the bottom of no return and was so sweaty and smelly after jumping up and down for hours that I am amazed people stuck with me through-out the evening.

The day started with BBQ and then KAKKMADDAFAKKA. My absolute favorite band from Bergen made me dance, jump and sing (like they always do) and were the crowd pleasers they’re known to be. Like always, the concert ended too soon, which gave me some time to breath and gather up my strength again. Like I told Marita, this could have been the only concert I’d gone to that day, and I would still be more than pleased with the day’s activities.

Went back to the camp to eat over-synthetic candy (those watermelon slices were SICK – in a good way) and get our energy levels refilled before it was time for Alexisonfire and then Paramore. Didn’t really get any good photos, because I was to busy just chillin’ around and looking cool.

Kine found a cowboy hat by the road. We felt it fitted my outfit perfectly, so I got to borrow it for a couple of hours. And what an ice breaker, EVERYONE talks to the girl in the cowboy hat, it’s just the way of the world or something. I felt so cool.

And then Muse entered the stage and I lost all control and fooled all the people in a 10 meter radius to believe I was a crazy drunk by trying to head bang and jump up&down at the same time. (Note to self: it doesn’t work). Sang till I couldn’t sing no more, screamed until my voice had the sound of a crow and then it was over.

Finished the day off with Empire of the Sun, danced my already sore feet to bloody pulps, then limped back to the car and drove home. Longest 1 hour drive I ever had. Was so hungry my stomach screamed for food, and all the gas stations we passed were closed. I thought gas stations were supposed to be open 24/7? Apparently not.
Well, today I am going back to Arendal, and staying there for the remainder of the week-end. So I need to pack-pack-pack. BTW, thanks to all of you who came up to me to say hello, hug me or take pictures, I felt quite out-of-place and my friends believe I am some sort of celebrity now. Which is something I can live with as long as they allow me to be a diva about it. But yeah, thank you!

Today I am going to have this song on repeat the entire ride to Drammen. Had forgotten how much I love Kaizers Orchestra, they really are one of my favorite bands. Makes me proud to be Norwegian, really, their music is so well made and the fact that they are actually singing in Norwegian (and making it sound cool) is pure genious. And of course; Jannove is so incredibly hot, in the way that only musicians can be. Want proof, just take a look at this live clip from their concert @ Vega:

So last year I was unable to get the full festival experience that I crave every summer, with the exception of one day at the Quart Festival (Slash and friends) and Keane at Norwegian Wood. This year I am torn between two festivals, and can unfortunately only pick one of them, so I thought that it might be a good idea to consult with you guys. Short summary of the two would go something like this:
R o s k i l d e
Pros: I attended Roskilde in 2008, and it was by far one of the best experiences of my life. Skandinavia’s Coachella. The strawberry daiquiri bar, chillin’ in the sun, Camp C, watching all the craziness (including the nude camp), cheap beer, festival fashion, the Woodstock-feeling. Some of my favorites on the program this year: Jack Johnson (the one and only), Muse, The Prodigy, Kings of Convenience, Robyn, Florence + The Machines and Pendulum. Website here: Roskilde festival.
Cons: In Denmark, which means expenses include ferry+train or plain+train (easily 1500-2500kr just in transport) and I’m poor. While loads of people travel to festivals to experience everything except the music, the program itself is usually quite important to me and I’m not too impressed by Roskilde this year unfortunately.

Cons: A lot of my friends are going to Hove this year, and although they’ve been trying to make me go for the last 3 years I’ve been kind of hostile against it, being an old fan of the Quart festival (the festival in my heart. rip.). It also attracts a far younger crowd than Roskilde, and I am not really a fan of spending extensive time with people more than 3 years younger than me. And also the beer is expensive compeared to Danmark and Roskilde.
Pros: First of all the music. Being a huge fan of Massive Attack, them alone is reason enough for me to go. Kakkmaddafakka, my favorite live band from Bergen are also playing, and although it feels stalker-ish the fact that they were booked to play at the Hove Festival was the event that got me to start considering Hove for real and check out the rest of their program. A program which also includes Muse, Arcade Fire, Empire of the Sun, Pendulum, Florence + the Machines, Serena Maneesh, Vampire Weekend and Dizzee Rascal. The fact that it’s only an hour by bus away from my hometown certainly helps as well. And so many people I know are going to be there this year, among other’s my cool crowd from Kristiansand with the coolest camp idea I’ve heard (no spoilers though). More info here: Hove festival.
So, what do you think? Roskilde or Hove?
Newest musical addiction. Heard it a when it came out, loved it, forgot about it, re-discovered it, and now I’m in love all over again. Really well put together, the beats, the lyrics, the music, the part with Will.I.Am (the one and only). Rihanna (and the people producing her songs) are too good. No video yet, but hopefully they’ll make some one day.

My playlist as of this week:
The Who – I Can See For Miles
Lykke Li – Melodies & Desires
Snow Patrol – Shut Your Eyes
Jane Birkin & Manu Chao – Te Souviens-Tu?
Regina Spektor – The Sword and The Pen
La Roux – Tigerlily
The Cardigans – I Need Some Fine Wine And You, Need To Be Nicer
Imogen Heap – The Moment I Said It
Little Boots – Earthquake
Paolo Nutini – Jenny Don’t Be Hasty

While I am going up the the uni again, I’m leaving you with what I think will be one of the big hits this summer: Miley Cyrus – Can’t Be Tamed. Real 100% well-made pop song, and I’ve been walking around singing it since I heard it for the first time on Thursday. Like the music video as well. No, I love it. Miley is 17 and ready to distance herself from her Disney image (like Britney “I’m A Slave For You”, or Rihanna “Good Girl Gone Bad”), and if this indicates anything, the split will be a good one.
Go Miley!
